Growing up, I spent almost every summer camping in Yellowstone National Park. When I made the original version of this box for my wife, I was always reminded of Yellowstone. Something about the colors of the Ambrosia Maple top flowing in and around the wood grain, just brings back memories of hot water flowing from shimmering pools and mineral stained stream beds. When I produced that first box, I never imagined that it would blossom into one of our most popular and requested pieces. As such there are too many to display on this page. A basic commission for a simple box to house a guitar processor that evolved into this stunning beauty of craftsmanship. Meticulously created from a single highly figured Black Walnut board, the grain was wrapped to magnify the crotch figure, unveiling the remarkable color variations and natural flow of the wood.

The interior compartments, lined with beautiful spalted Sugar Maple, offered secure storage for all necessary gaming accessories. Seeing this remarkable piece leave the workshop was truly bittersweet.

During the design process, the top and interior tray began to remind us of the fabled Thunderbird, and as such became the name of this piece. Produced with hand cut dovetails in American Cherry and Black Walnut, this piece has long been one of our favorites.

Constructed with lightly figured Paduk, known for its vibrant orange hue that matures into a deep blood red with time.
